Description
Overactivation of neuroendocrine and autonomic systems is a common occurrence in prevalent
diseases, including salt-dependent hypertension and heart failure. Using a multidisciplinary
approach, we propose to investigate mechanisms that mediate activity-dependent neurovascular
coupling in the hypothalamus and the impact this process has on neurosecretory neurons that
regulate bodily homeostasis in health and disease states. The proposed study will generate novel
information on mechanisms underlying altered neuronal function in a heart failure rodent model.
