Abstract

A monoclonal autoantibody (mab 16) against the complementary peptide TKKTLRT, which was deduced from the collagenase-sensitive site in collagen, is described. Mab 16 recognized interstitial collagenase as visualized by ELISA and immunoprecipitation assays. Moreover, mab 16 was able to inhibit partially the collagenolytic activity of keratinocyte supernatant. Finally, it was possible to immunopurify collagenase using a mab 16/Sepharose column.
