Abstract
The fresh water fish Anabas testudineus was exposed to sublethal concentrations 1.9 ppm and 9.5 ppm (1/0, 1/2 of 96 hr LC50) of monocrotophos for 1, 7, 14 and 21 days. The effect of sublethal concentrations of monocrotophos on the activity of acid (EC. 3.1.3.2) and alkaline phosphatase (EC.3.1.3.1) in plasma of Anabas testudineus were studied. A significant increase in the activities of acid and alkaline phosphatase were observed. The impact on phosphatase activity was high in the fishes exposed to the highest of the two sublethal concentrations.
