Effectively Approaching the First Day of Class.

Abstract

The article presents a study that examines college students' impression about the first day of class. It discusses first the importance for both students and instructor the first day of class and relates that studies have been conducted on students' impression on their first day in class. It also discusses several suggestions on how to effectively manage the first day, and then concludes that first class meetings can be challenging on the part for instructors. Moreover, it adds that students can readily form their impressions about a certain course as well as the instructor and relates that the instructor's communicative competence creates positive first day impressions to students.
