Decoding visions in Glenn Kaino's the Siege Perilous

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

This article explores intersections between Glenn Kaino's sculpture The Siege Perilous (2002) and the thirteenth-century romance La Queste del Saint Graal. Both Kaino and his medieval predecessor couple mysterious objects and images with unsatisfying explanations, exposing our dependence on interpretations by unreliable or ingenuous exegetes-and pushing us beyond this dependence.
