N2 - Advances in the psychological understanding of the origins and manifestations of human error have led to tremendous reductions in errors in fields such as medicine, aviation, and nuclear power plants. This workshop is intended to foster a better understanding of software engineering errors and how a psychological perspective can reduce them, improving software quality and reducing maintenance costs. The workshop goal is to develop a body of knowledge that can advance our understanding of the psychological processes (of human reasoning, planning, and problem solving) and how they fail during the software development. Applying human error research to software quality improvement will provide insights to the cognitive aspects of software development. The workshop will include interactive session to discuss common themes of errors in different fields, and structure software error information to detect and prevent software errors during the development.
