Abstract

The development of techniques for chromosomal and biochemical monitoring of amniotic fluid has added a new dimension to genetic counseling. Since parents at risk of having a genetically abnormal child can now elect antenatal diagnosis, advising them about risk factors has become a routine part of primary care.
