Abstract

Progress is being made in the treatment of this usually fatal disease. Clinical trials are essential to define the role of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery in the treatment of esophageal cancer, and hopefully, with continued enthusiasm within the surgery community, these trials can be completed within a reasonable period of time.
