Abstract

A multiuser database has been developed by the Duke University Medical Center's Clinical Electrophysiology (EP) group which runs on low-cost IBM compatible PC's running in a Novell Netware Environment, and is written in the FoxPro programming Language. The purpose of the Database is to increase efficiency, to provide a clinical database that can be used for research purposes, and to improve patient care by making more information available to physicians in a timely manner. The system was designed according to end-users specifications that emerged through a series of focus group meetings, and incorporates features such as pop-up menus for data entry, step-by-step instructions and an on-line help system to make it easy to use by non-technical personnel.
